Denver Boudoir Myths That Aren’t True

Let’s tackle some common myths that might be holding you back from experiencing a St Louis or Denver Boudoir session for yourself. We’ll set the record straight and empower you to discover your own beauty, just the way you are.

1. Boudoir is Only for Young, Thin, Beautiful, Confident Women

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Boudoir is for women of all ages and sizes. We’ve had clients who are 20 and clients who are 60, and let me tell you, every single one of them is stunning in her own skin.

The whole boudoir experience is about discovering your own beauty, just the way you are. Many women start their boudoir journey with insecurities, but the experience itself helps build confidence and self-love. You’ll look at your photos and think, “Holy crap, that is me?!”

2. I Need to Lose Weight First Before my St Louis or Denver Boudoir Session

Let’s chat about your belief that you need to lose weight. The person saying you need to lose weight to be worthy of this experience is yourself, not society. The real battle is within – you have allowed yourself to believe you’re not good enough, but you have the power to change that. You are perfect and deserving and worthy just as you are. Not with changes. Right now. Be kind to yourself. As long as you are brave enough to fake some confidence for two hours, we’ll show you that your body is worthy of celebration right now.

3. Boudoir is a One-Time Thing

You may think that boudoir is a one-time thing, but we actually have repeat clients in the studio all the time! We even offer a membership! Many women choose to do multiple boudoir sessions to celebrate different milestones or stages in their lives. Each session captures a unique part of your journey.

4. You Need to Be a Professional Model

Wrong! You don’t need any modeling experience. Our job is to guide you through poses and expressions to make you look and feel comfortable and confident. We’ll be with you every step of the way, ensuring you look amazing.

5. Boudoir is Only for Brides or Women with Partners

While many brides choose boudoir for wedding gifts, you don’t have to be a bride or even have a partner to enjoy this experience. Boudoir photos make great gifts, but the whole experience is actually designed for YOU to learn to love and appreciate yourself. So many women are unable to truly appreciate how beautiful they are because of how society has made them feel about themselves, and we’re changing that narrative one boudoir client at a time.

6. You Need Expensive Lingerie

Think again. While beautiful lingerie can enhance your photos, we don’t expect you to buy super pricey pieces. Honestly, some of our favorite photos are with a simple white sheet or your birthday suit! For St Louis or Denver Boudoir sessions, we at TK Boudoir can achieve stunning results with items you already own or pieces from Amazon for less than $30 per outfit. It’s all about what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.

7. Boudoir Photos Are Public

Nope. Your boudoir photos are private by default. They are only shared with your explicit, written, excited consent. 95% of our St Louis and Denver Boudoir work is restricted and is never shown to the public. Your photos are only seen by you and whoever you choose to share them with.

8. Retouching Changes Your Appearance Completely

Retouching enhances your natural beauty. It doesn’t transform you into someone else, or at least it shouldn’t. Almost all of our “body morphing” is done through posing and lighting and not in photoshop. We will liquify if needed so that you love your photos; however, we always remind you that you’re beautiful just as you are and don’t need it. The goal is to present the best version of yourself, not a different person.

9. Boudoir Photos Are Highly Sexual and Require Nudity

Sure, boudoir photography can be sensual, but it’s primarily about empowerment and beauty. It most definitely does not require nudity. The style and tone of your session is based on your comfort and preferences. Boudoir sessions can be as modest or daring as you like, with the goal to capture your personality and beauty in a way that makes you feel empowered. You can wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and beautiful!

10. Boudoir is So Out of My Comfort Zone

It’s completely normal to feel this way when trying something new. We’ve spent a lot of time creating a safe, inviting, and comfortable environment to make you feel relaxed and pampered.

Our first few icebreaker poses are designed to give you an instant boost of confidence. Many clients find themselves feeling at ease and even walking around topless within the first half hour. I know you can’t even fathom that right now, but it happens on the regular because of the environment we’ve created.

We provide so much direction during the session that you won’t have time to feel awkward. You’re too busy following our instructions. We know how our clients want to see themselves in their final images, and our process ensures beautiful portraits every time, even if you feel awkward at first.
