Boudoir Outfit Ideas to Hide Your Belly

3V0A1155-1

Let’s be real for a second. If the thought of doing a boudoir session sounds exciting but also has you spiraling because you need to find boudoir outfit ideas to hide your belly, you’re not alone. So many of our clients say the same thing.

They want to feel sexy. They want to feel confident. They want to celebrate their bodies. But they’re also thinking, “what the hell do I wear if I don’t love my stomach?”

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to suck it in, hide behind a pillow, or settle for awkward poses that make you feel uncomfortable. You just need the right outfit. And by right, I mean the one that works for your body and what you’re self-conscious about.

Let’s get into it.

First, figure out what you’re actually trying to cover

Not all belly insecurities are created equal. And when you’re choosing what to wear, it really helps to know what’s bothering you the most. Is it the skin texture? The shape? The way things sit after babies? That little lower pooch? C-section scar?

Let’s break it down so you can find what works best for you.

If it’s loose skin or stretch marks…

You might actually love your body’s shape but want a little more compression or coverage. Something that shows off your body, but smooths things out or doesn’t show the belly itself.

Here’s what I recommend:

  • High-cut bodysuits are amazing for elongating the legs while still giving you some midsection coverage.
  • High-waisted panties with a matching bra give a vintage bombshell vibe and keep your lower tummy covered.
  • Compressive bodysuits gently hug everything in without feeling like shapewear.
  • You can also look for bodysuits with mesh, lace, or tie panels that let a little skin peek through in a soft and sexy way.
  • Bra and panty sets with a lace robe, open cardigan, or your partner’s white shirt.
  • High waisted flowy skirt with a sexy bra that shows off the cleavage.
  • Three piece lingerie sets with a garter belt to add some coverage at the belly.
  • Silky cami and short set.

If you have an apron belly or c-section scar…

This is a big one. So many of our clients are moms or have had major weight shifts, and they’re dealing with lower belly changes that lingerie doesn’t always account for.

Here’s the deal:

  • Bodysuits can help, but if the sides cut up too high without providing enough width, they might draw attention to your scar or apron belly. Instead, look for bodysuits that are high cut but provide plenty of width, have more of a mid-cut or full-coverage leg, or ruffles at the leg! High cut bodysuits on plus size girls make your waist look so tiny and your legs so long, but only if there’s ample width in front.
  • High-waisted panty sets are a great alternative if bodysuits feel too risky. You can mix and match with bras that make you feel supported and lifted on top.
  • Layering can be your best friend here too. Try a soft robe, an off-the-shoulder sweater, a cozy cardigan, or a silky wrap to give a little more movement and distraction without hiding you completely.
  • Bodystockings are super sexy and provide extra compression. If you are softer, watch out for small holes or tight straps that might dig in, and instead opt for the full lace panels.
  • Sheer or lace chemise style dresses are so pretty, but make sure they’re not too tight in the areas you don’t love, but are tight enough on the hips to show off your curves.
  • A sexy black corset or bustier paired with a black lace robe, thigh highs, and black heels is a great option! While we don’t typically recommend corsets on their own, this is a great look if you want to cover the belly but still look hot!
  • A over the top ruffled robe over a bodysuit or bra and panty set is one of our favorite looks for you! It lets you show off your legs and boobs, but covers everything you don’t want to see.

If you have a long torso…

Bodysuits can be a nightmare for you. IYKYK.

If they dig into your lady bits or leave you constantly adjusting during a shoot, skip them altogether. Long torsos and one-pieces often just do not mix. We’d rather you be comfortable!

Here’s what works instead:

  • High-waisted panties with a bra or bralette let you define your waist and cuts some of the skin showing if you feel “too long”
  • Add a button-up shirt, jersey, oversized sweater, or lace robe for movement, softness, and coverage where you want it.
  • Unbuttoned jeans and topless is super hot.
  • Crop top to show off the underboob and high cut thongs work great for your body type.
  • Corsets, bustiers, and longline bras actually work great for your body type, too. It shortens the torso and provides a little more balance to your body.
  • A tied shirt or sweater at the waist with a pair of panties is a great look!
  • A short robe that hits at the hip or right below lengthens the legs and balances the long torso. Pair it with a sexy bra and panty set underneath.

You can still get those stunning, sexy looks without ever touching a bodysuit. I promise.

If it’s your overall weight or body image…

This is the most common one. You don’t have to name a specific part. You just don’t feel great right now. Maybe your body doesn’t feel like your own. Maybe you haven’t done anything for yourself in a while and this feels like a big leap.

Here’s what I want you to know. You are allowed to want to feel hot again. And this session can help you reconnect with that version of yourself.

So instead of focusing on what you don’t like, start with what you do.

For me? I’m not a fan of my stomach or my arms. So I look for long-sleeved bodysuits that show off my cleavage and make me feel held in, but not restricted. I also love thong backs because I’ve got a booty I’m proud of and I want to show it off.

When you dress for the features you do love, everything else fades into the background. I’ve seen it happen over and over again.

Don’t just bring one outfit style

This is a mistake I see all the time. Women show up with just one or two outfits, and both are soft, flowy, and made to cover everything. Usually they’re picked with good intentions. Most of us have been taught that covering up our “flaws” will make us feel more confident.

But here’s the truth. When every outfit has the same shape, cut, and vibe, we lose variety. And worse, those overly flowy pieces that are often marketed as “plus size lingerie” can actually make you look bigger than you are. They swallow your shape instead of showing it off.

You deserve to feel safe, but you also deserve to feel fully seen. That means mixing it up. Bring something with structure. Something bold. Something that hugs your curves in all the right places.

A few final tips from a photographer who gets it

Fit matters more than the size tag. Don’t obsess over numbers. Focus on how it makes you feel when you put it on. Sometimes, going up a size makes the fit better!

Bring options when it comes to boudoir outfit ideas to hide your belly. Seriously. We can help you decide once you’re in the studio.

Remember, you can look amazing without baring it all. You don’t need to cover up everything, but you also don’t need to show more than you want to.

No matter your size, your body is worthy of being seen. And with the right outfit and the right photographer, I promise you’ll start to believe it too.
