After years of serving over 2,000 happy clients and all 5-star reviews, TK Boudoir recently got our very first 1-star review.

We’re not here to sweep it under the rug, because we believe in transparency.

We believe in taking care of our clients, even when they aren’t the right fit for our studio.

So instead of ignoring it, we’re going to walk you through exactly what happened. Not out of defensiveness, but because you deserve to know what kind of experience you’re stepping into when you book with us.

The Backstory

A client booked a boudoir session and arrived the day of the shoot without any outfits.

She told us, once she walked in the door, that we had told her we would be providing all of the clothing.

That’s simply not something we offer.

We do not have a client closet.
We do not provide lingerie or wardrobe options of any kind.
We never have, and we’ve never said we do.

In fact, this is something we clarify repeatedly:

• In our confirmation email (which includes detailed prep instructions)
• In our prep guide (with a checklist of what to bring)
• On our social media and blog posts
• And most importantly, in the contract she signed and agreed to, which clearly outlines the client’s responsibility to bring all outfits

So how did the misunderstanding happen?

We believe she had been researching multiple boudoir studios and, somewhere in that process, confused us with a different one. That’s understandable. However, the responsibility to review and follow our studio’s information still falls on the client. Especially when everything was provided, agreed to, and acknowledged.

Why We Canceled the Session

When she arrived without any outfits, she asked if she could leave to go get some and come back.

Unfortunately, we only reserve a 4.5-hour window per client. That includes professional hair and makeup, plus the full 3-hour boudoir experience. We often serve multiple clients in a single day, so we simply didn’t have the flexibility to pause and restart her session hours later.

Originally, we intended to reschedule her for another day, as we often do for clients who are running late or miss their hair and makeup time. But it quickly became clear that she wasn’t interested in moving forward with us.

More importantly, it became obvious that she hadn’t read any of the materials we provided. She hadn’t prepared. She didn’t understand our process or the policies she had agreed to. In every sense, she was not a fit for our studio.

We could have continued the session. We could have shot the outfit she was wearing, or photographed her nude only. We could have let her leave and come back for an abbreviated experience, and still required the minimum purchase, even though she wouldn’t have received the full experience we’re known for.

But that’s not what we wanted for her.

So we made the decision to cancel the session entirely, refund her in full, and waive the $800 minimum purchase, even though we were under no obligation to do so. We took the loss, including our staff’s time, because it felt like the most respectful, professional, and compassionate choice, especially given how upset she was.

We put her back in the position she would have been in had she never booked with us, which is the only true resolution we could offer, both ethically and contractually.

Then Came the Review… and the Rumors

She left us a 1-star review (you can see it here for yourself), and shortly after, we began receiving random comments on our social media posts suggesting that we “include all outfits.”

We don’t.
We never have.
And we won’t begin now just to meet expectations that were never set.
